Lewisville History
Lewisville was first settled back in the mid-1800's. A man by the name of Basdeal Lewis bought the land and named the area after his last name. That area remained a small town up until the mid 1970's when in 1974, the Dallas/Ft.Worth International Airport was constructed. The high traffic airport is located just a few miles south of Lewisville which is largely responsible for the population explosion in Lewisville and neighboring cities.
